Well, let’s start with the nice part: the beautiful story surrounding the brilliant American frog, the queen of the dunes. Made famous by Steve McQueen’s wild ride in the film The Thomas Crown Affair, it somewhat disappeared from the radars for several decades. Founded by Bruce Meyers in 1964, Meyers Manx transformed the dune buggy into a cultural icon, capturing the spirit of adventure and the freedom of the road. It is celebrating its 60th anniversary today.

The wave of nostalgia that has been sweeping the world for the past few years has not spared this little craftsman who sensed the opportunity. Redesigned buggies, production relaunched, revamped website, collaborations with clothing or luggage brands, Meyer Manx is back in style.

But it was necessary to go even further: to swap the iconic VW Beetle’s flat 4 engine for a 100% electric powertrain. It’s divisive, but unfortunately, it’s necessary to hope to continue evolving in the dunes without being seen as an anti-eco criminal.

Ultra-high prices!

The Meyer Manx EV 2.0 is not very forthcoming about its technical and dynamic qualities. We barely know that its range can reach 125 miles, or about 200 kilometers. This buggy has also surpassed the concept stage, and that’s a good thing, with today’s announcement of the launch of its pre-series version.
