Legendary Peugeots to Sweeten the Electric GTi Deal?

Peugeot unveils its historic GTi models to accompany the launch of its first 100% electric city car, the E-208 GTi.

The arrival of a 100% electric GTi presents a real challenge for Peugeot: how to convey the sporting DNA of its small electric sports cars? To address this, the Sochaux brand is launching its “GTi Year” at the Rétromobile 2026 Show, from January 28 to February 1 in Paris. In a stand of over 600 m², Peugeot showcases the models that built its legend, from the original 205 GTi to the new Peugeot E-208 GTi, presented for the first time in France in its iconic white color.

A 100% Electric GTi Confronting a Historic Challenge

The new E-208 GTi boasts 280 hp, performance that exceeds the average of its segment, and a design that maintains the charisma of the French GTi style. By drawing on the history of the 205 GTi 1.6, 205 GTi 1.9, 205 CTi, 205 GTi Dimma, 205 GTi Griffe, and 205 Turbo 16, Peugeot illustrates the continuity between its thermal sports models and its first electric city car.

The show also provides an opportunity to display historical elements such as engines, steering wheels, rims, and soap boxes, offering the public an immersion into the Peugeot GTi universe and highlighting the brand’s expertise in small sports cars. The Peugeot GTi clubs and L’Aventure Peugeot have contributed to providing the historic vehicles.
