Peugeot e-208: Expensive bill for the new model

More than €40,000 for a city car is a lot. Fortunately, the offer should become more accessible over time, with the arrival of new, less expensive versions.

The new model year of the Peugeot e-208 joins the manufacturer’s lineup. Quite a thorough review on the technical level, the car gains power and significantly improves in range. But if you want to place an order now, be prepared to pay more than €40,000.

If the car is so expensive, it is simply because Peugeot is only offering the high-end GT trim at launch. This version is particularly well-equipped, with standard features such as 3D navigation, full LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, and glossy black wheel arches. However, it requires a significant financial effort, priced at €40,400 (with a €6,000 bonus not deducted). Note that a €800 discount is offered during Black Friday.

A Peugeot e-208 with a more powerful motor

The updated Peugeot e-208 features a 51 kWh battery operating at 400 volts. It promises an WLTP mixed cycle range of 400 km, roughly forty kilometers more than the previous model year.

Peugeot has also changed the motor of its electric city car. Following this modification, power has increased by 20 horsepower, reaching 156 hp. In terms of performance, the car has gained about a tenth of a second in the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration, now capable of doing it in 8.2 seconds. The top speed remains limited to 150 km/h.

Unfortunately, these improvements do not come for free. The price of the Peugeot e-208 GT has increased by €400, and there is little doubt that other trims will follow the same trend once they are updated too.
