Made-in-France electric motors for Peugeot, Opel, and DS vehicles

Stellantis could produce up to one million electric motors annually by 2024 at its new plant located in Moselle.

Stellantis has announced the ramp-up of production of its new M3 electric motors at its manufacturing plant in Trémery (Moselle). The automaker aims to reach more than one million electric motors per year by 2024.

The Launch of M3 Electric Motor Production

These electric motors have a power of 115 kW / 156 hp and a torque of 260 Nm. They improve vehicle efficiency and provide a range of over 400 km. They will equip the new generations of various Stellantis vehicles as they are launched. Starting in 2023, the Peugeot e-208, Jeep Avenger, and Opel Mokka electric models will feature the M3 motor. The New DS3 E-Tense also integrates it in its facelifted version.

This is especially true in France, where we will likely remain the leading commercial and industrial player.“

Stellantis May Continue Producing Hybrid Cars

The year 2023 is likely to be marked by an economic slowdown and rising interest rates, explains La Tribune. This could slow down sales of new cars as well as the used car market in North America. According to Carlos Tavares, a similar phenomenon will occur in Europe: “We are trying to find solutions for everyone.”

Thus, by anticipating a stagnant electric market, the Trémery site could continue producing engines for hybrid vehicles, a practice they have maintained since 2019. Originally, the factory produced thermal engines, diesel and then petrol, at a rate approaching 2 million units annually.
