Opel enriches its lineup with the Grandland Electric AWD, the first 100% electric all-wheel drive SUV in its history.
With the Grandland Electric AWD, Opel expands its electric range with a focus on traction and versatility. Designed to tackle snowy, icy, or degraded roads, this compact SUV features an unprecedented all-electric all-wheel drive system in the German manufacturer’s lineup.
The powertrain relies on two electric motors: a front unit of 157 kW (213 hp) and a rear motor of 83 kW (112 hp). The road behavior is also supported by a chassis equipped with frequency-selective damping technology, standard on this AWD version. This system mechanically adjusts the damping force according to road conditions and driving style, balancing comfort on degraded surfaces and stability at high speeds. Specific adjustments to the springs, steering, and ESC enhance precision and safety, including during hard braking.
Safety and Performance
Four driving modes are offered. The 4WD mode, designed for difficult conditions, continuously engages both motors with a balanced power distribution to maximize traction. The Normal, Sport, and Eco modes prioritize efficiency, dynamism, or energy sobriety, with automatic activation of the rear motor in case of high demand.
In terms of performance, the Grandland Electric AWD boasts a 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. Its carefully designed aerodynamics (Cx of 0.278) contribute to a range that can reach 502 km (WLTP), thanks to a 73 kWh usable NMC lithium-ion battery. With rapid charging, it is possible to go from 20 to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
