Porsche Taycan Electric Starting at €55,000

The first Porsche electric car in history, the Taycan sedan, is becoming very affordable on the second-hand market with very low mileage.

The magic of electric cars is not only about the price of energy compared to a full tank of gasoline or the absence of a heavy environmental tax of 60,000 euros. Now, this magic also greatly affects the residual value of battery-powered cars, which depreciate extremely quickly and significantly.

There is nothing unusual about this as the technology evolves rapidly. In the luxury car segment, purchases have become a minority compared to long-term leases driven by business leaders. This is the case for the very attractive and successful Porsche Taycan, which, at its launch in 2019, was the cheapest model in the German manufacturer’s catalog when factoring in the tax applied to thermal vehicles.

The accessible dream!

Mobiwisy has found a Porsche Taycan registered in 2021 (thus a 3-year lease…) displaying only 27,500 km (3-year lease…) and a price (before negotiation) of 55,880 euros. Without much negotiation skill, the price will easily drop below 55,000 euros, as the seller has already factored this in.

The entry-level Taycan stands out with a power of 326 horsepower, capable of increasing to 380 horsepower with an overboost function present on this unit. Acceleration to 100 km/h is achieved in 5.4 seconds, and only the rear wheels are driven.

The only source of regret regarding this Porsche Taycan “first of its name” is its range, rated at 407 km, which translates to about 300 km in real conditions. The battery is indeed very generous at 79.2 kWh. Nevertheless, Porsche regularly pushes Over the Air (OTA) updates for its software. These have genuinely improved the real range, as all the computer science involved is the secret to achieving a very large driving range. The new version of the Taycan, to be unveiled in early 2024, proves this point. And older models will also benefit from these advancements.
