Mini Concept Aceman: a preview of the new electric crossover

Mini has just unveiled the Aceman, an all-electric crossover concept. It previews a production model and more generally provides clues about the style of future Minis.

At 4.05 meters long, the Aceman concept is more compact than a Countryman. Its dimensions are more comparable to those of a Renault Zoe (4.1 meters) or a Peugeot e-208 (4 meters). The series model that will derive from it will therefore be positioned between the Mini city car and the Countryman.

With its plastic protections all around the body, 20-inch wheels, and relatively high ground clearance, the Aceman concept clearly draws inspiration from the SUV universe. The roof rack emphasizes this adventurous aspect a bit more, which is primarily a stylistic choice. Because for the rest, the concept has nothing of a true 4×4. The manufacturer itself presents it mainly as a city-focused crossover.

Overall, the Aceman does not revolutionize Mini’s style. Without all its concept features, it wouldn’t stand out among the current range, even though none of the existing models have the full illuminated grille with complex shapes as seen on this concept.

A Mini with a luminous dashboard

Inside, Mini aimed to combine heritage and modernity. Like the current models in the lineup, the circular central display aims to evoke the instrument cluster of the original Mini. Bright colors and a wide variety of materials add originality to a very minimalist interior. The dashboard and door panels are equipped with a synchronized lighting system that matches the central screen.

Mini has not disclosed the technical specifications of this concept. The only thing known is that it is electric, and that the production model derived from it will also be electric. It is expected to be unveiled in 2023 and gradually arrive on roads starting in 2024. It will be produced in China alongside the next generation of the Mini electric.
