New Audi A2 Electric: What Do We Already Know?

Expected in autumn 2026, the new Audi A2 e-tron will become the entry model to the brand’s electric range.

Audi is gradually officializing the return of the A2. Twenty years after the disappearance of the compact monobox launched at the end of the 1990s, the German manufacturer is preparing a new generation. Completely electric, it is named the Audi A2 e-tron. The model will be unveiled in autumn 2026 and will complete the brand’s zero emissions offering with a more compact and accessible proposal.

The announcement was made by Gernot Döllner, CEO of AUDI AG, during the group’s Annual Media Conference. The future A2 e-tron represents a significant strategic step in the electrification of the four-ring brand. Audi is already presenting it as its future premium entry-level electric model.

Tomorrow, with an eye on yesterday

In terms of style, the prototypes seen in recent weeks reveal a compact and highly aerodynamic silhouette. Audi seems to want to retain some nods to the original A2 from 1999, particularly with a high roof and an architecture designed to maximize onboard space. The front should adopt the new aesthetic codes of the brand, with a particularly refined light signature.

Internally, the future Audi A2 is expected to feature a minimalist and digital ambiance, with fully digital instrumentation and significant work on connectivity. Several sources also mention a range capable of exceeding 500 kilometers WLTP, which would place the model among the benchmarks in its segment.

Before its official presentation, the prototypes are currently undergoing an extensive testing campaign in several extreme environments. In Scandinavia, the Audi A2 e-tron is continuously engaging in winter tests on snow and ice in northern Sweden.
