MG 4X: The Revolution of Semi-Solid Battery is Underway!

First affordable electric crossover to integrate semi-solid battery technology, the MG 4X targets Europe.

As the new MG4 aims to reclaim the electric compact car market with its unbeatable price-performance ratio, MG Motor takes a new step with the MG 4X. This new model, revealed in early 2026, not only expands the range: it introduces groundbreaking technology in the mainstream electric vehicle segment.

A technical sheet driven by innovation

The real achievement of the MG 4X lies beneath its floor. Unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries, the 4X features a semi-solid battery of 53.95 kWh. This hybrid chemistry offers major competitive advantages:

• Increased safety: Superior thermal stability, drastically reducing fire risks.
• Winter performance: An additional preserved range of nearly 14% in freezing temperatures compared to LFP batteries.
• Ultra-fast charging: Thanks to 2C technology, charging from 30% to 80% takes only 21 minutes.

In terms of powertrain, the crossover develops 120 kW (163 hp). Its range is claimed to be 510 km (CLTC cycle), which should translate to about 400 km in the European WLTP standard.

Aesthetically, the MG 4X adopts a more assertive “crossover-SUV” look, moving away from the sharp design of the classic sedan. The interior benefits from a collaboration with technology expert Oppo, ensuring smooth smartphone connectivity and an ultra-responsive user interface.

Regarding its commercialization, the arrival of the MG 4X in French and European dealerships is strongly anticipated for late 2026. It will strengthen MG’s offensive against the competition from Renault and Volkswagen in the segment of electric vehicles priced below €30,000.
