Mercedes Unveils the EQE SUV

As the Auto Show is in full swing, Mercedes is hosting its own event in the 7th arrondissement of the capital, just a few kilometers from the Exhibition Center. The German manufacturer is unveiling a new electric model: the EQE SUV.

As the name suggests, this vehicle is the SUV counterpart to the EQE sedan. Measuring 4.86 meters long, it slots between the EQC and the EQS SUV. In terms of style, the EQE SUV doesn’t hold any surprises. The look of the vehicle and the interior layout follow the design language of previous electric models. The hyperscreen is still available, but you’ll need to pay several thousand euros more to get it.

Multiple Versions Available

The Mercedes EQE SUV is equipped with a 90.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. No other capacities are offered. However, there is a wider choice of powertrains, with at least five different power levels available. The more powerful variants carry the Mercedes-AMG badge and feature a sportier look. The range varies depending on the motorization and equipment chosen.

All versions of the EQE feature two motors and all-wheel drive, except for the 350+ (single motor and rear-wheel drive). The Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ has a “Race Start” mode that temporarily boosts power to 687 hp and torque to 1000 Nm.

Maximum Charging Power of 170 kW

The EQE SUV comes standard with an onboard charger of 11 kW, but Mercedes also offers an optional 22 kW onboard charger. When using a DC fast charger, the vehicle can handle up to 170 kW. While respectable, some competitors offer higher charging speeds.

The Mercedes EQE SUV will be manufactured in the United States starting December. Although prices have not yet been announced, it can already be stated that it will be more expensive than the EQE sedan, which starts at €80,150.
