Mercedes-AMG Unleashes the Lightning!

With over 1,100 hp and innovative technology, the new AMG GT 4-Door aims to set a new benchmark among ultra-performance electric sedans.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe 4-Door opens a new chapter in AMG’s history. Fully electric for the first time, this large sports sedan introduces the AMG.EA platform and is based on a clear promise: to preserve the emotional DNA of the brand while entering the era of high-performance electric driving.

Under its fastback silhouette, Mercedes-AMG introduces a groundbreaking architecture featuring three axial-flow electric motors, a technology never seen before on a production model from the brand. Two motors are positioned at the rear and one at the front, for a combined power of up to 860 kW, or 1,169 hp. The manufacturer claims a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 2.1 seconds and a top speed of up to 300 km/h with the AMG Driver’s package.

Furious Excellence

With this model, Mercedes-AMG clearly targets the ultra-premium electric sedan clientele, already attracted by models like its German cousins, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and Audi RS e-tron GT. A direct response to current segment benchmarks, with a spectacular and emotional approach.

The Audi RS e-tron GT certainly stands out as one of the most natural competitors. More GT than radical, the Audi shares its technical DNA with the Porsche Taycan and appeals to a clientele seeking a balance between comfort, design, and electric performance. Mercedes-AMG seems determined to push further in terms of sensations and performance endurance.

But the new AMG will also have to contend with the rise of Chinese manufacturers in the high-end electric market. Models like the BYD Denza Z9 GT now boast over 1,000 hp, three-motor architectures, and extremely fast charging capabilities. These new Chinese competitors are betting on an aggressive technology/price ratio and could quickly become credible alternatives in certain markets.

Mercedes-AMG emphasizes the technological advance of its 4-Door GT. Its 800-volt battery inspired by Formula 1 promises reproducible performance even under intensive use. Charging can reach 600 kW, allowing for more than 460 kilometers of WLTP range to be recovered in just ten minutes under optimal conditions.

When it comes to sensations, AMG also retains its historical identity. The brand has developed an artificial sound inspired by its V8 combustion engines, with simulated gear shifts and embedded vibrations to recreate a more immersive driving experience.
