Lucid Motors: Tesla’s rival delivers its first cars in Europe

Lucid Motors is slowly but surely launching its offensive on the Old Continent. The manufacturer has begun delivering to customers in Germany and the Netherlands.
Among all brands positioning themselves as direct competitors to Tesla, Lucid Motors is certainly one of the most serious. Based in the United States but largely financed by Saudi capital, the company made a notable entrance into the electric car market, with an Air that seems to be universally appreciated by those who have tried it. This large electric sedan is currently arriving in Europe. The first units were delivered a few days ago, in Germany and the Netherlands.
Lucid Motors at the beginning of its European offensive
For this first foray into the Old Continent, Lucid is offering a special edition called “Dream Edition”. Customers can choose between two power levels: 696 kW or 828 kW (respectively 933 and 1,111 horsepower). The performance figures are naturally very high, especially for a sedan. For example, the Lucid Air with 828 kW can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds. Regarding range, the same 828 kW model can theoretically cover 799 km on a single charge. The Lucid Air with 696 kW, which is logically less energy-consuming, is credited with a range of 883 km.
Thanks to its 900-volt architecture, the car also impresses with its charging speed. It could theoretically recover 400 km of range in 15 minutes on a charger capable of delivering 300 kW.
Price-wise, the figures also reach new heights. In Germany, for example, you need to pay €218,000 to acquire one unit, regardless of the chosen power level.
France is not among the list of European countries selected by Lucid for its European debut. However, the brand has already planned to expand more widely across the Old Continent in the future.
