Lucid Motors to Deliver Over 100,000 Cars to Saudi Arabia

Some of the ordered cars will be manufactured on-site, at Lucid Motors’ new factory.

The Saudi government has just ordered more than 100,000 cars from Lucid Motors. This should help the young American manufacturer solidify its position!

Well, in truth, things are a bit more complex: the Saudi Ministry of Finance has only firmly committed to “” purchasing 50,000 cars. Subsequently, it considers acquiring more than 50,000 additional Lucid vehicles, but for now, this is just an option in the contract, not a formal commitment.

The first vehicles are expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2023. The order, which covers the large Air sedan as well as other upcoming Lucid models, will be gradually fulfilled over a period of 10 years. Initially, Lucid plans to supply between 1,000 and 2,000 units annually. The pace is then expected to accelerate, reaching a rate of 4,000 to 7,000 cars per year by 2025.

Lucid Vehicles Made in Saudi Arabia

This massive order isn’t coming out of nowhere. Lucid Motors has been closely linked to Saudi Arabia since the Saudi sovereign fund invested $1 billion in the company. It is also in this country that the manufacturer’s second factory will be located, which will produce part of the 100,000 cars ordered. The other part will come from the existing factory in Arizona.

Lucid Motors Coming Soon to Europe

Meanwhile, the electric car manufacturer has many other projects. Notably, it aims to establish itself in the Old Continent. Initially, the first vehicles were expected in 2021 but, evidently, Lucid has experienced some delays… According to the latest news, the Lucid Air will arrive in the European market this summer.
