Lexie Traveled Around the World in an Electric Ford

Adventurer Lexie Alford officially holds the record for being the first person to circle the globe in an electric vehicle.

We introduced you to Lexie Alford and her quirky challenge last year. After traveling through six continents, 27 countries, and covering more than 30,000 kilometers solely on electricity, she crossed the finish line in Nice, France.

Lexie’s journey mirrors that of Aloha Wanderwell, the first woman to travel around the world 100 years ago, also in a Ford. Aloha began her journey in Nice, where Lexie’s trip also started and ended, driving the Explorer to the finish line leading a convoy of Mustangs, GTs, and F150s, under the gaze of Ford CEO Jim Farley, who came to greet her for the occasion.

Like a well-oiled electric machine, this achievement coincides with the launch of orders for the new Ford Explorer in Europe. Designed and developed in Europe, it is Ford’s second fully electric passenger vehicle and the first to be assembled at the Ford Cologne EV Centre following a $2 billion investment. It boasts a range of over 600 kilometers on a single charge and can charge from 10 to 80% in less than 30 minutes.

“During this epic adventure, I met incredible people from all corners of the world, and I visited 27 countries behind the wheel. But this journey came with a unique set of challenges,” said Lexie, who also holds the record for the youngest person to have visited every country in the world. This electric Ford Explorer has felt like my home for the past six months. I set myself the goal of pushing the limits of what is possible in an electric vehicle, and I am proud to say that I did it!”
