Lamborghini hesitates on electric vehicles

Lamborghini fully adopts a hybrid approach, without giving in to the urgency of launching a 100% electric model.

In a rapidly changing automotive world, where many manufacturers are betting on electric or hydrogen to meet climate challenges, Lamborghini is making its voice heard differently.

For the past five years, Lamborghini has committed to hybridizing its lineup, a strategy that allows it to meet environmental expectations while preserving the essence of its vehicles. “I am very satisfied with our current range. Thanks to hybridization, we will be able to continue like this for the next decade,” affirms Rouven Mohr, the brand’s technical director. “But I also believe that Lamborghini must consider the transition to electric, as it is only a matter of time before mindsets” evolve.

A transition slower than its models

Thus, Lamborghini plans to introduce its first fully electric model in 2028, but without rushing since commercialization is not expected before 2030! The manufacturer prefers to focus on improving its hybrid solutions, considered the best compromise between performance, driving pleasure, and market adaptations. This pragmatic approach also reflects the desire to preserve Lamborghini’s identity while gradually aligning with global climate goals.

Meanwhile, Lamborghini has ruled out any exploration of hydrogen, notably within the FIA World Endurance Championship. According to the brand, limited resources and the focus on priorities make this path irrelevant.

With electrification planned for 2030, Lamborghini is committing to a gradual transition. In the short term, the brand relies on synthetic fuels and advanced hybrid technologies to continue appealing to its clientele. In this balance between innovation and tradition, Lamborghini stands out with a clear vision: evolve at its own pace, without sacrificing what makes its cars magical.
