This sobriety-driven approach reflects a desire to limit the environmental impact of the company and its vehicles. “We are convinced that two-ton SUVs, whether combustion or electric, are not the future of everyday mobility. The car of tomorrow, the one for daily trips, will be lightweight, clean, simple, and will protect both its driver and passenger as well as other road users,” says Matthias Goldenberg, CEO and co-founder of Kate.

The acquisition of NoSmoke by Kate is already leading to an update of the electric Moke, which has been renamed “Original” in passing. The improvements concern the motor as well as the battery and vehicle components. Now, the offer is structured around three versions. The most advanced reaches a maximum speed of 90 km/h and promises a range of 220 km. The launch of the “new” Original will take place in spring 2023.
