Jaguar Disappears from Social Media!

Jaguar’s strategy remains truly perplexing. Stopping car sales, okay, but disappearing from networks?

Jaguar has decided to reinvent itself like a Phoenix, burning its past to better resurrect in the future. A particularly risky strategy, bold to the point of being almost suicidal! This morning, the brand’s accounts on X, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are simply desperately empty. A scorched earth strategy just a few weeks before the firm unveils a concept that will set the tone for the philosophy of all its upcoming models.

But where Jaguar really shines is in how, to better fade into obscurity, the manufacturer has found nothing better than unveiling the prototype of its future 4-door electric coupe! It’s either genius or completely foolish, but at least it gets people talking. This is the first entirely new Jaguar since the I-Pace launched in 2018, and this astonishing four-door GT is the first of three electric cars coming before the end of the decade. The other two electric vehicles are a luxury sedan and an SUV.

The silhouette is as baffling as the brand’s strategy, featuring an endless front hood. Instantly, one thinks of the Type E, but it’s important to remember that the latter was designed to house extraordinary powertrains, from the legendary 3.8-liter inline-six to the 5.3-liter V12. An electric car doesn’t face the same constraints because motors can be distributed almost anywhere on the chassis, so we wonder what Jaguar is trying to hide underneath. More generally, why build an electric car that looks like a thermal vehicle? At the front, there’s a grille similar to that of the I-Pace, but camouflage is clearly visible underneath. It’s just an illusion, and we already know that the upcoming Jaguars will feature a completely new face centered around a new grille topped or dressed with a new Jaguar badge.
