Is There Really a Market for the Electric Range Rover?

Let’s take a brief step back from the local disputes over the presence of SUVs in the modern automotive landscape. The question is whether a Range Rover customer can handle the constraints of electric driving.

Fasten your seatbelts; the long wait is finally coming to an end, and the electric Range Rover will finally arrive on our roads in 2025. With 55,000 customers already on the waiting list according to JLR (Jaguar Land Rover), it seems the manufacturer has found the recipe for success… or at least for frenzied anticipation.

Of course, the numbers are impressive, and kudos to JLR for perfectly managing the teasing around the arrival of this large electric SUV, the latest product of a lineage with over 50 years of noble heritage! But beyond initial excitement, one question persists: will the loyal Range Rover clientele be willing to compromise for a 100% electric experience?

A car for a man in a hurry

Thomas Müller, Director of Product Engineering at Range Rover, assures that this electric SUV competes with its thermal counterparts and even surpasses them in many ways. Naturally, we think of comfort, the exceptional silence of electric motors, and the smoothness of their linear torque. During extreme tests, the vehicle even climbed sand dunes like a champion. But will this compensate for the endless charging times during highway stops? Not to mention battery range, a sensitive topic for customers used to crossing the English and Solognote countryside without stress or prolonged stops.

From the announcements, the electric Range Rover is ready to conquer all terrains, even the most slippery ones. It remains to be seen if its customers are ready to face the gray areas of electrification. One thing is certain: with so many customers waiting, the manufacturer hasn’t finished surprising us… hopefully, for the better.
