In promotion, new Tesla Model Y cars are priced like used ones!

People don’t necessarily realize the significance of the discounts Tesla offers on the Model Y. So let’s compare with used models.

Since the start of summer, we’ve been following the incredible saga of the Tesla Model Y at €36,990. Thanks to a €4,000 eco-friendly bonus and an exceptional €4,000 discount on all stock vehicles, the American manufacturer has managed to sell its flagship 100% electric SUV at a truly astonishing price in a highly competitive market. This summer, for nearly two months, we even saw the discount applied to vehicles ordered!

We must admit, at this price point, the Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive has no serious competitors on the market in terms of value for money. There are a few Chinese exceptions, but newcomers can’t yet boast Tesla’s reputation, and European customs duties quickly cooled their enthusiasm anyway. You often accuse us on Mobiwisy of Tesla bashing… when you’re not accusing us of favoring Tesla, it depends on the mood and topics, and it’s fair game. But we are certain — the Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive at €36,990 is a golden deal!

Tesla makes some happy and some unhappy

But we should spare a thought for Tesla customers who bought a Model Y in 2023 at a price close to €45,000. They are now looking to resell it, applying the standard 20% depreciation for the first year, which brings the price down to… €36,000 — almost the same as the new model! Truly tough, if not unfair, but that’s the flip side of Tesla’s coin! We’re now facing a completely absurd situation where a 2023 used model with 20,000 km on the clock costs barely €390 less than a brand-new 2024 model. And with such low mileage, these are truly two strictly identical cars.

In a few months, the landscape will be completely reorganized with the arrival of the highly anticipated Juniper version of the Model Y. Until then, stock from existing models will need to be sold off, and it’s not unlikely that new promotions on new vehicles will emerge. One thing is certain: buying a Tesla for one year is truly a very risky bet!
