Hyundai IONIQ 9 Off-Road

With its giant tires, raised suspension, and 422 horsepower, the Hyundai IONIQ 9 Off-Road has us smitten.

Hyundai unveils at the Las Vegas SEMA Show a concept that challenges the norms of the family SUV: the IONIQ 9 Off-Road, a steroid-enhanced version of the large electric SUV, designed for adventure and fun. Co-created by Jeremiah Burton and Zach Jobe, the two creative minds behind the BigTime collective, this concept makes an impact from the very first glance.

Raised ground clearance, lifted suspension, massive off-road tires, auxiliary headlights, and unique OZ wheels inspired by WRC: everything is designed to tackle trails rather than shopping mall parking lots. The result? A radical, almost retro-futuristic look, inspired by a 1977 cab-over truck nicknamed Bud. A deliberate nod to the vintage world that the two creators love.

A beast made to devour dirt

Under the hood, or rather beneath the floor, this electric giant has nothing to envy from gas-powered 4x4s. The all-wheel-drive IONIQ 9 Calligraphy version claims up to 422 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, enough to propel this silent behemoth across all terrains without ever running out of breath.

Presented in the SEMA Future Tech Studio, a space dedicated to technologies and electric vehicles, this concept illustrates Hyundai’s new direction: making electromobility rhyme with personality and freedom. “This project embodies the SEMA spirit: innovation, customization, and boldness,” summarizes Sean Gilpin, Marketing Director of Hyundai North America.
