How to Save Over €8,000 on Dacia Spring?

The Dacia Spring 100% electric is offered in France starting at 18,900 euros, but there is a much cheaper version!

Launched in 2021, the Dacia Spring was in 2023 the 3rd best-selling electric vehicle for individuals in Europe. With nearly 30,000 units sold, Spring was even the leading electric vehicle in the French market at that time. However, the small Franco-Romanian car was starting to show its age and received a nice update in early 2024. The new Spring features the Dacia design introduced with the latest generation of the Duster. A robust and assertive style that has given it a welcome refresh.

Unfortunately, it has unfortunately faced the loss of the Eco Bonus, which has brought its price back to a truly difficult level. At 18,900 euros in the 65-horsepower version and Expression trim, it is nearly as expensive as a Duster or a small hybrid like the MG3, both of which are otherwise much more qualitative vehicles. Logically, its career has stagnated, but there is still a way to make it more attractive and our Belgian friends demonstrate this.

Less good, but much cheaper!

At the presentation of the car, we were pleased that the first trim level Essential and the 45 hp engine are still not offered in France, and we maintain that this is really a set that is unworthy of a 2024 electric car. But it’s all about price, as an ugly little automotive duckling can easily become a beautiful swan if we lighten it by a few thousand euros.

It is therefore possible in Belgium to acquire a modern-looking electric car for exactly 10,590 euros. So for this price, you get 14-inch steel wheels, vintage gray denim seats, and you will have to do without air conditioning, but no driving aids are lacking and with a good smartphone you can compensate for the lack of a screen thanks to Bluetooth. Under the hood it gets tricky with only 45 horses that aren’t very lively and 4 hours to charge the little beast, but the range of 225 km is anything but ridiculous.

So we have an old-school car, designed to drive from a point A not too far from point B, but at a price point where you only find small vehicles like the Citroën AMI. And there is a real market for this type of car that is just waiting for its arrival in France.
