Ford E-Tourneo Custom

In addition to diesel and plug-in hybrid models, the new Ford Tourneo Custom family will include an electric variant, which promises a range of 370 km.

The Ford Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom are two iterations of the same vehicle. While the former transports goods, the latter carries up to 9 people in a more luxurious interior.

A few weeks after its utility counterpart, the Tourneo Custom is being redesigned. It gains a fully electric version, primarily recognized by the distinctive mesh pattern of its grille.

Equipped with a 74 kWh battery and a 160 kW (218 hp) motor, the e-Tourneo Custom offers a range of 370 km. Thanks to an onboard 11 kW charger, it can recharge in less than 8 hours according to Ford. On DC fast charging, the vehicle accepts up to 125 kW and can go from 15% to 80% in 41 minutes. The e-Tourneo Custom can also power electrical devices via 2.3 kW outlets located in the front cabin.

With the hands-free system, the electric sliding doors are also automatic: simply pass your foot under the vehicle to open them. The e-Tourneo Custom also features a one-pedal mode, which allows driving without using the brake pedal in certain conditions. A panoramic glass roof, tri-zone air conditioning, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 14-speaker B&O audio system are also included in the list of standard or optional features.

Inside, the gear lever has moved to the dashboard to free up space. The 13-inch touch screen and digital instrument cluster form a relatively cohesive visual unit. The steering wheel can tilt to accommodate a computer, or even fold completely to serve as a table.

With the Tourneo Custom, Ford targets both private individuals and professionals who use shuttles. The commercial launch is scheduled for mid-2023. In addition to electric, Ford will also offer diesel and plug-in hybrid versions. Prices have not yet been announced.
