Enyaq RS Race, an electric vision of competition by Skoda
With the new Enyaq RS Race concept, Skoda celebrates its racing heritage and already looks forward to tomorrow.
If you’re a rally fan, you are familiar with the Fabia Rally2, a terror on specials around the world for many years. The Enyaq RS Race represents a new approach to competition, following the Skoda Fabia RE-X1, a 100% electric version of Rally2, and the recently presented Vision GT for Gran Turismo.
The Enyaq RS Race is based on the Skoda Enyaq Coupé RS. Equipped with all-wheel drive, it demonstrates the capabilities offered by the Volkswagen Group’s electric platform in terms of performance. With its aggressive design, the Enyaq RS Race emphasizes its close connection to racing and motorsport. Its wide stance ensures even more stable handling, while the rear wing provides the necessary downforce to harness the power of the electric horsepower. The purpose of this study is to gain practical knowledge by making specific technical modifications to high-performance electric vehicles. These approaches could potentially be incorporated into future production models.
The Enyaq RS Race complements Skoda Motorsport’s range of electric vehicles. Introduced in 2021, the Skoda Fabia RE-X1 was built on the chassis of the Fabia Rally2 evo and equipped with an 860-volt electric motor delivering a peak power of 260 kW (354 hp). Approval by the Austrian motorsport federation allowed the Baumschlager Rallye&Racing team to participate in the Austrian rally championship.
The Fabia Rally2 already runs on 100% sustainable fuel in WRC2, making it an ideal testbed to evaluate the technical viability, resilience, and durability of new innovations in eco-mobility under extreme conditions.
