Bad news for French Neymar fans: the e.wave X is only available in Germany.

If the name e.GO Mobile doesn’t mean anything to you, that’s normal. This young German manufacturer has never ventured outside its domestic market, and it recently had to suspend its activities due to serious financial issues. But thanks to a new fundraising round, e.Go is back in business with a new electric model: the e.wave X. And to accompany the launch of the vehicle, the brand didn’t hesitate to enlist Neymar’s services.

The e.wave X follows the formula of the Life, e.GO Mobile’s first car. But it makes it a bit more attractive by adopting the characteristic styling cues of SUVs (omnipresent plastic protections, roof rails, faux skid plate at the front). Quite basic overall, the dashboard features a central screen and a digital instrument cluster that visually form a single block. Despite the compact dimensions of the vehicle, the cabin is large enough to seat 4 people.

Heating or air conditioning can be controlled remotely via an app.

One unit for Neymar

While the electric motor in the Life was limited to 57 kW, the e.wave X’s motor ramps up to 80 kW, approximately 110 hp. The range also improves, going from 171 to 240 km in city driving. The car is equipped with an onboard charger of 11 kW, also an increase compared to the Life.

The presentation of the e.wave X took place at e.GO Mobile’s Berlin factory, with Neymar Jr. The Brazilian star inspired a first special edition of the model, the e.wave NJR. The partnership provides that Neymar will drive one of the 31 units of this limited series. Now, it’s on to see whether the player will truly give up his big engines for this model with a moped-like look.

Reservations for the e.wave X are already open in Germany. The price is set at €24,990. e.GO Mobile expects to deliver the first units by the end of the year.
