It’s hard to call this a simple discount for this Volkswagen ID.5 GTX with 300 hp, but rather a clearance sale with a -34% discount.

Building legitimacy in the electric vehicle market is not easy. So when you want to approach it from the top of your portfolio, with expensive and not necessarily dominant models, you risk a stumble.

This is essentially what Volkswagen with its electric lineup. Factually, the German manufacturer remains the leading seller of decarbonized cars in Europe, but its performance relative to investment is very weak. It’s about holding steady until perceptions evolve over time. But it remains true that Volkswagen’s electric vehicles, called ID, still show huge discounts. This is not something the Wolfsburg-based company was known for.

Example here with an ID.5 SUV in the sporty GTX trim with 300 horsepower. On the other side, there’s the Tesla Model Y nearly €20,000 cheaper! Impossible to compete. Therefore, dealerships are trying to get rid of their stock with absolutely crazy discounts. -23,210 euros on this unit, or -34%. At this point, it’s better to talk about clearance rather than a simple commercial gesture…
