So let’s judge this car for what it is, namely a new car that bears the name of an old one. Sacrilege or brilliant communication move, everyone will have their opinion.

From the front or the back, the lineage is really successful, particularly thanks to the incorporation of stylistic markers from its ancestor. From the side, a familial resemblance also immediately stands out… but certainly not with any of the three generations of thermal Capri! No, the line resembles that of the Volkswagen ID.5! It’s normal, this 2024 Capri is based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, like the ID.4 and its coupe variant the ID.5.

The same goes for the interior with a feeling of déjà vu. But this time it’s the Ford Explorer that comes to mind. In a way, that’s good because it is just as pleasant to see as it is to experience. Let’s just hope Ford has replaced some of the rather hard plastics with softer materials. This Capri is not meant to be an off-roader like the Explorer, so that would be a real plus.

In the end, here is a nice SUV with an appealing technical sheet. It’s a Capri without being one, but one could say the same about the Mustang and Puma.
