Can you get paid by driving a Tesla?

This is the surprise of the week: Tesla is promoting an offer to test a self-driving car… and get paid.

We’re not April 1st, yet Tesla announced that the company led by Elon Musk is searching for drivers to test new advancements on their fully autonomous vehicle project. It’s a seasonal job that seems quite unusual compared to typical job market offerings.

Who can benefit from it?  

Of course, to participate in this experimentation and help improve autonomous driving for Tesla‘s new vehicles, there are some rules. It should be noted that this experiment is only possible in the United States and not in France. To participate, you need to hold a driver’s license. No special experience is required. However, future test subjects must have basic proficiency with the Office pack and be comfortable speaking both orally and in writing, as they will need to write reports. 

Of course, this job is paid, and quite well. Between 18 and 48 dollars an hour to drive and write reports on the vehicle’s behavior, for three months. 

A real-fake idea? 

Tesla is recruiting citizens to test new improvements related to autonomous driving. Yet, five months ago, nearly 362,758 vehicles had to be recalled after the company identified issues with autonomous driving. 

Worse still, The Washington Post published an investigation revealing that autonomous driving caused 11 fatal accidents in just one year. A figure that has doubled compared to the previous three years.
