The Deadly Weapon Against the Tesla Model Y from BYD

The Chinese giant BYD has unveiled the interior of its new electric SUV. Simplicity, quality, and technology are on the agenda.

Remember these three letters which sound amusing when pronounced “in the French way.” But as for failure, BYD seems to protect itself, given the huge investments made to succeed in its gamble: conquering the entire planet. And Europe is at the top of its shopping list… This giant has just crossed the milestone of 5 million electric cars produced, and in China, it is largely the leading seller of decarbonized vehicles, with sales three times higher than Tesla’s. Finally, BYD is the global leader in electric buses. Many units are already circulating in major French cities.

With its Song L SUV equipped with four-wheel drive, multiple style inspirations are evident: a bit of Audi here, Porsche there, Lamborghini or Cupra as well. There’s also a hint of Lexus in the look. Overall, the appearance is very aggressive and dynamic. Driving will also be lively with active chassis control and a combined power of 380 kW (517 hp). Finally, with an 87 kWh battery, the range is announced at 662 km.

With its ideal dimensions of 4840/1950/1560 mm and a wheelbase of 2930 mm, the BYD Song L offers optimal interior space. On board, BYD provides a ultra-modern, minimalist cockpit, reminiscent of Tesla’s style. Finally, the local price is estimated at about $29,900, roughly €25,000. Including European tolls, the final price could reach close to €35,000. Sales in Europe are well planned, alongside other models from the Dynasty series, which includes the Han, Tang, and Atto 3.
