The large electric SUV is set to undergo a mid-cycle refresh, along with a new name: Audi Q8 e-tron, hinting at other major changes?

In the four rings lineup, the Audi e-tron was the pioneer of electric cars. Yes, it was already in 2019, three years into its career, that the large 4.90-meter electric SUV had a busy update. Among other things, it received a body style dear to the German brand—a Sportback with a sloping roof, slightly improving the range in the process.

In 2020, the SUV received a complementary top-of-the-line model, the S. Delivering 370 kW of power and 973 Nm of torque, it positions itself as the sporty version of the electric model.

What possible evolutions for the Audi Q8 e-tron?

The Audi e-tron officially becomes the Audi Q8 e-tron. It’s the brand that announces it, ahead of its upcoming presentation. But what is behind this name change, just a facelift?

This is indeed an opportunity to realign the lineup, as the Q8 e-tron is the largest electric SUV from the manufacturer. The Q4 e-tron remains the most compact, while the next intermediate Q6 will be the cousin of the Porsche Macan Electric, slated for 2023-2024.

New name, but the same vehicle, which will receive slight exterior modifications. The facelift appears to be light, as seen in the first teaser photo from Audi, where the headlights and optics seem unchanged.

But the camouflaged prototype, visible during the E-Cannonball in September, is clear: the grille will evolve. We can also imagine an engine or battery upgrade. Currently, there are three versions:

  • e-tron 50: 313 hp, 71 kWh battery, range of 283 to 330 km
  • e-tron 55: 408 hp, 95 kWh battery, range of 370 to 424 km
  • S: 503 hp, 95 kWh battery, range of 344 to 377 km

Stay tuned on November 9th to discover the new Audi Q8 e-tron on Mobiwisy!
