Alpine A110 Electric, the Sculpture Before the Breakthrough

Alpine prepares minds for the renewal of its berlinette with a sculpture that promises the continuity of style, before the big leap into electric.

How to replace a car whose lightness is almost a religion? Before answering with numbers, Alpine chooses forms. Unveiled on September 28, a sculpture announces the stylistic intentions of the third generation of the A110. It will be displayed at the Paris Motor Show starting October 12.

Under a blue drape, the silhouette cleverly maintains suspense. The shark nose, the V-shaped front treatment, and the suggested double light signature must preserve an immediately recognizable lineage. The cabin shapes like a drop of water, framed by four muscular wings, while a cinched waist highlights the volumes. Alpine clearly wants to change eras without losing its face.

The brand even calls upon the Concorde to explain this staging: the veil would freeze the energy of breaking the sound barrier. The image is ambitious, but the true challenge will be less spectacular and more determinative: to retain the sensations of a berlinette while transitioning to electric.

Behind this artistic proposal lies the new APP platform, for Alpine Performance Platform. A prototype named A110 FUTURE has already provided a dynamic preview this summer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Its body, derived from the current A110, had been stretched to fit the new dimensions of this architecture.

This sculpture, however, neither reveals the final body nor provides expected answers regarding weight, range, or performance. It establishes a promise: that of an A110 still identifiable, sensual, and visually light. The challenge remains to transform this suggested lightness into tangible agility. For Alpine, the success of the transition to electric will hinge on this: profoundly evolving the technology while preserving the pleasure that justifies the badge.
