Alieno Unum électrique

With a power of up to 5,521 horsepower, the Alieno Unum from Bulgaria aims to become the benchmark in electric sports cars.

Did you think Bugatti was the master of automotive power? Or that the Mercedes-AMG One was the pinnacle for road cars? There are many, many more powerful vehicles, especially among electric ones. But once again, the Rimac Nevera and Pininfarina Battista, approaching 2,000 horsepower, are just “small players.” For the biggest power contest, you need to look further East in Europe.

Some (really) incredible numbers

Because the answer is in Bulgaria, at Alieno. After announcing its first car, the Arcanum, the company reveals its second project. This electric vehicle is called the Unum, and remains a high-performance electric sports car. Its style is more reminiscent of a GT3 race car, with deep inspirations from Lamborghini. Founder and CEO Ahmed Merchev admits that his favorite car is the Aventador…

Several versions increase the power of the Alieno Unum, from 12 to 24 motors (in the wheels). Ranging from 2,610 horsepower “only” on the RP2 to 5,221 horsepower on the most unruly RP5. Thanks to this version, the top speed could reach 584 km/h, far from the current record of 455.3 km/h held by the SSC Tuatara.

The customer can choose between three batteries of 60, 120, or 180 kWh, using LiPO (lithium potassium) and graphene technologies, combined with supercapacitors. No details yet on these new-type batteries – we’ll have to wait and see – nor on their range. Most notably, their recharge capability is off the charts, up to 2,700 kW (2.7 MW) to restore 80% of energy in just over 3 minutes.

Regarding performance, the Alieno Unum offers two versions: THF and TRS. The THF is the standard version, while the TRS uses air turbines. There are 24 of these turbines, hidden behind grilles, enhancing the vehicle’s handling. The system uses a 700 bar air compressor behind the seats and can also assist in several ways: cooling the battery or blowing on the road to remove sand or snow…

Stratospheric prices for the Alieno Unum

Will we see these Alieno cars on the road someday? Not sure, as the images are still virtual. The CEO is cautious, announcing that “the first hypercars will be on the road as early as between 2024 and 2027“.

In any case, the Bulgarian company isn’t afraid to put forward elitist prices. The base price is between 1.8 million and 2.7 million euros for the THF, while the TRS ranges from 3 to 4.5 million euros.
