By principle, any offer that seems too good to be true should be approached with suspicion. This principle applies to everything, especially in the automotive world. Today, let’s look at the new Alfa Romeo Junior, originally born Milano before being banned in Italy unless it changed its name. The Stellantis group agreed under legislation that protects Italian product names, regulating their use depending on the place of manufacturing. Anyway.

Now called Junior, the SUV Alfa Romeo, a cousin of the Peugeot 2008, Fiat 600, or Opel Mokka, needs to carve out its space in the highly competitive electric car market. Finding the right balance between sale price, profitability, and residual value over time is truly a challenge.

Like many manufacturers, the Italian brand is no longer primarily focused on selling you a car but rather on leasing it, considering the multiple lives it will have through reconditioning and the recycling of materials over hundreds of thousands of kilometers.

€250 per month, nice?

What does the Alfa Romeo offer? It’s a long-term lease (LLD) for 24 months and 20,000 kilometers for the intermediate (not entry-level) Junior Speciale trim. Perfect for entering the electric world and transitioning, in two years, to even more mature technology. For daily use, renting at €250 per month is quite appealing. This, however, requires a first payment of €3,795, with an ecological bonus of €4,000 deducted.

Thus, after two years, the customer will have paid €9,545, compared to the €40,500 listed for outright purchase of the Speciale version. The color is admittedly white, but the 18-inch alloy wheels are standard. The aesthetic look is quite pleasing.

Once again, let’s be honest: the Alfa Romeo Junior is a very charming everyday electric car perfect for taking kids to school, activities, or for a couple. For large families who love to travel extensively, it’s more complicated. But with its 54 kWh battery and 115 kW (156 horsepower) output, it offers lively dynamics and an impressive range of 411 km in mixed cycle. In city driving, this can extend up to 580 km thanks to regenerative braking.

Home charging accepts up to 11 kW in series, which is excellent. On a fast charger, power peaks at 100 kW, allowing an 80% charge in about 30 minutes. Not bad either, even if some competitors of similar size reach 130 kW.

Considering fuel and maintenance savings, the cost of this electric Alfa Romeo at €250 per month is quite reasonable. And it allows you to drive in style.
