The Tesla Cybertruck Silences the Critics!

Tesla had promised a balanced model before the end of the year, and honestly, we had our doubts, but the numbers don’t lie.

Tesla began production of the Cybertruck in November 2023 with a limited Foundation Series priced at nearly $100,000, which quickly became no more limited than that while the lower-priced version was awaited. A signal that troubled us as the company admitted to struggling to ramp up production to fulfill reservations. The volume of order cancellations had reached record highs, and the situation began to become really precarious for the ambitious 100% electric Pick-Up. But the American manufacturer did not give up and diligently worked to produce and deliver the Cybertruck, achieving record sales volumes today. During the presentation of the third quarter 2024 results to shareholders, Tesla confirmed that the Cybertruck is now profitable, two and a half months before the end of the year, which was the most optimistic deadline for this. Tesla has been criticized for failing to meet its deadlines, but in the end, it’s when you least expect it that the brand exceeds all expectations. Call it what you will, for us it’s the Elon Musk paradox.

Yet nothing has been spared for the bulky vehicle with its raw metal shell. Bulletproof windows that are too fragile, rust appearing on a sheet sold as stainless steel, hubcaps that puncture tires, hijacked by a Chechen warlord, finger-cutting trunk,… The beginning of the Cybertruck’s career has not been a smooth sea. But the machine is indeed on the move and shows no signs of stopping with a sequential increase in production during the third quarter to reach an annual production rate of over 125,000 units.

With a now-profitable Cybertruck and the acceleration of deliveries of the entry-level versions starting at $79,990, the company could take a breather, but that underestimates Tesla.
