Around the World in a Ford Explorer

Lexie Alford, the youngest explorer to have visited all the countries in the world, begins today a historic journey around the globe aboard the new electric Ford Explorer.

Lexie’s journey is inspired by that of Aloha Wanderwell, who in the 1920s became the first woman to circumnavigate the globe in a Ford Model T. The expedition will cover six continents, about thirty countries, and over 28,000 km in less than 100 days, testing both the charging system and the human limits of the adventurer.

Lexie Takes on the World

The adventurer and content creator, Lexie Alford (@LexieLimitless), the youngest person to have visited every country in the world, launched her “Charge Around The Globe” world tour this Friday, September 8, driving the new electric Ford Explorer.

Starting from Nice, she will traverse six continents and over 30 countries in an adventure aimed at demonstrating the possibilities offered by an electric vehicle, while hoping to become the first person to circumnavigate the world in an electric vehicle.

Ford Rewrites Its History

Lexie’s journey embodies the spirit of adventure shown by her predecessor Aloha Wanderwell, who became the first woman to circumnavigate the globe in a car a century ago, behind the wheel of a Ford Model T. She had to overcome many obstacles requiring unconventional solutions, such as enlisting oxen to pull her car through swamps, sand, and rivers in India, or seeking help to tow her vehicle for kilometers in China, where civil war made fuel purchases impossible.

The electric Ford Explorer in which Lexie will leave the Hotel Le Royal in Nice – the same place where Aloha began her journey – is a pre-production prototype that closely resembles the vehicle future customers will discover when it goes on sale in Europe next summer. To carve her name into history, like Aloha Wanderwell or Phileas Fogg, by becoming the first person to circumnavigate the world in an electric vehicle, Lexie must meet specific requirements. The minimum distance for a record attempt is 28,968 km, and she must pass through two antipodal points, cross at least five continents, and start and end at the same location. RecordSetter representatives will be present at various locations around the world to verify her attempt.
