A Very Secret Ford to Tackle the Pikes Peak Race

After the overwhelmingly powerful SuperVan 4.2, second in 2023, Ford and Romain Dumas return to Pikes Peak with the electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck.

In 2024, Ford Performance is once again set to compete at Pikes Peak, and still with an electric vehicle! The oval-brand will make its return to Colorado (USA), for the 102nd edition of the world’s most legendary hill climb race (June 18–23).

However, it will not be with the electric Ford SuperVan 4.2, which finished in 2nd place overall in 2023 with Romain Dumas driving (winner and record holder in the Open category). The 1400-horsepower beast,which recently broke the lap record at Bathurst for a closed vehicle, will not be making the trip to Colorado Springs, as Ford will field an F-150 Lightning “Electric Demonstrator”.

More than 1500 horsepower for the 150?

To tackle Pikes Peak, the electric pickup is expected to be extensively modified by Ford Performance, and while no specific details have been released by the American firm, one can expect power to be boosted to the extreme, similarly to the aerodynamics. The F-150 Electric will logically carry the number… 150. Currently, Ford has not specified in which category the F-150 Lightning “Electric Demonstrator” will compete, nor the date of its official presentation.
