A Ford Mustang Mach-e Rally powered by hydrogen
The all-new 100% electric Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally was one of the headliners at the recent Rebelle Rally.
The Rebelle Rally is an entirely female off-road race covering 2,500 km through the deserts of Nevada and California. Participants compete in a challenging navigation event behind the wheel of cars without GPS, modern navigation instruments, or even smartphones!
Ford has made it a must-attend event since it first entered in 2020 with three teams driving Bronco Sport SUVs. They achieved a remarkable hat-trick that year. This year, the Broncos were joined by the very latest from the Blue Oval, the all-new 100% electric Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, recharged at each stage by hydrogen fuel cells.
This unique setup was developed by Renewable Innovations, Inc., which provides a large platform equipped with hydrogen fuel cells capable of supplying up to 800 kg, equivalent to 12,000 kWh of energy generated by solar power. This system is officially called MEC-H (Mobile Energy Command – Hydrogen) and offers a fully mobile charging solution for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, independent of the electrical grid.
Renewable Innovations also supplied support vehicle for the Rebelle Rally, a sort of off-road utility capable of providing up to 15 kWh of portable energy or towing vehicles to the base camp if needed.
