With a surge in sales on the new car market, electric vehicles are increasingly common on French roads and in cities.
In February 2023, the new car market experienced another leap for electric cars. With more than 60,000 new units, they are steadily growing the vehicle fleet month by month, but at what speed?

According to AVERE France, the number of electric cars on the roads continues to increase. At the end of February 2023, there were exactly 706,773, compared to 537,721 a year earlier. Thus, there has been a +31% increase in electric cars in France over the past year. Imagine, at the end of 2020, there were fewer than 300,000, and 90,000 at the end of 2017! However, the number remains very low compared to the 41.2 million cars currently in circulation in the country, across all types of engines.
Regarding plug-in hybrid cars, sales are also increasing. In February, AVERE France recorded 432,205 units, compared to 291,834 last year at the same time (+48%). In total, there are now 1.16 million so-called rechargeable vehicles, compared to 829,555 in February 2022.
