Do you get your money’s worth with the new Volkswagen Tayron?

Volkswagen enriches the range of the new Tayron now available in France from 50,800 euros with options for 5 or 7 seats.

Volkswagen continues to expand its Tayron SUV in France by adding a TDI engine and two new trims to its catalog. However, the starting price remains very high at 50,800 euros for the special series “VW Edition” equipped with the mild hybrid 1.5 eTSI engine with 150 hp. As standard, the model offers seven seats with eTSI and TDI engines.

The complete range now includes four engines and six trims, including two plug-in hybrids with 204 hp and 272 hp, capable of traveling up to 126 km in 100% electric mode (WLTP mixed cycle). This large SUV, positioned between the Tiguan and the Touareg, is developed and manufactured in Wolfsburg for the European market. Available to order since October 2024, its first deliveries are expected in March 2025.

Without appeal in France due to the Malus tax, Volkswagen still introduces a 2.0 TDI engine with 150 hp, available from 54,100 euros in the special series “VW Edition”. This engine can be associated with all trims of the Tayron, including the new “Elegance” and “R-Line Edition” versions.

Volkswagen still loves to aim high

The special series “VW Edition,” launched with the opening of orders, offers a customer benefit of up to 4,240 euros. Offered at an attractive price, it includes additional equipment such as metallic paint, Plus LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and tinted windows. Positioned between the “R-Line” and “R-Line Exclusive” trims, the special series “R-Line Edition” offers additional features like a panoramic sunroof and metallic paint, for a price of 54,800 euros.

For 55,300 euros, the “Elegance” trim emphasizes comfort and elegance. It includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a genuine wood dashboard, expanded ambient lighting, as well as heated and massage front seats. In terms of technology, this version stands out with IQ.LIGHT HD – Matrix LED headlights, a 360° camera, and the semi-autonomous driving assistant “Travel Assist.” The keyless entry system “Keyless Access” is complemented by a hands-free boot feature.

With these new offerings, the Volkswagen Tayron aims to find its place in the French family SUV market. While the higher versions have everything to please wealthier customers, serious consideration needs to be given to a more accessible entry-level option.
