Dacia offers a pretty cool comparison tool

The tool won’t revolutionize the automotive world, but being able to compare two Dacia models is very clever.

Whether at Dacia or elsewhere, comparing two models often requires a small notebook to jot down interesting figures so you can then compare them. Some websites offer this for all brands, but with model updates, price changes, and new options, it’s more of a gadget than a serious tool.

Nothing replaces a few minutes spent browsing manufacturer websites, and we know firsthand that some are more intuitive than others. Want some examples? Peugeot’s website is a maze, while its cousin Citroën’s site is much better designed. Conversely, Peugeot’s prices are clear, whereas Citroën’s are always “conditional on…”. Tesla’s site is a joy, but with a maximum of four versions per car type and options that can be counted on one hand, it’s not a breakthrough. However, the financing simulator might need an aspirin box.

The Dacia site is far from perfect, but this comparison tool gives it real value. Dimensions, engine options, and price are the only categories, but that’s enough for an initial sorting. Comparing the dimensions of a Sandero and a Jogger at a glance, or understanding how the Stepway differs from the Sandero, helps form a clear idea of how well the vehicle fits your needs. It’s also amusing to note that the entry-level versions of the Spring and the Duster are offered at roughly the same price.

In short, we enjoyed it, and it’s very clever. A good idea that definitely deserves a small spotlight, free of charge.
