This competition could also be summarized as: “the best for last.” Because for the first time in this intra-Corvette contest, the studio in Warren, Michigan, presents a proposal that integrates a strong element of the brand’s DNA: the road and competition.
The current stylistic codes of Corvette are also present with a sharp, pointed front end. For the rest, it’s hard to get a sense of it. The design is very successful, but for the flavor, we’ll see.
In terms of fun, these Corvette CX Concepts use fans to “suck” the road and generate aerodynamic downforce. On the powertrain side, it is 100% electric with 4 motors – 1 per wheel – for a total power of 2000 horsepower. The energy is stored in a 90 kWh battery.
Nothing of this sort in the CX.R competition version, which boasts a 2.0-liter twin-turbo V8, positioned mid-rear, with a (virtual) power of 900 horsepower at 15,000 rpm. This is complemented by 3 electric motors (1 per front wheel and 1 integrated into the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission), again for a total power of 2000 horsepower.
