Citroën presents a Coupe SUV that we don’t have access to

Citroën will present a brand new Coupe SUV on Wednesday. Europe is fond of this type of body style, but it’s not for us.

Summarizing the concept of a Coupe SUV, whether it comes from Citroën or elsewhere, is very simple. It’s an SUV that does not own its identity, that feels ashamed of its generous shapes and welcoming volumes. To feel better on its tires, it maintains a high chassis but has its roof chopped off to give it a sporty flair. This also works for a Coupe that feels too small and gets its suspension elongated. In short, all jokes aside, it’s a style that thrives when it manages to balance both worlds to create a harmonious result. Without admitting it, the new Peugeot 3008 has somewhat succumbed to this trend with its sloping rear, and who would say it’s not successful?

A simple evolution of the Citroën C3?

This Citroën Basalt Vision will therefore be reserved for the South American and Indian markets. It will be unveiled on Wednesday, March 27 at 12:00 PM. It is expected to use the technical platform of our C3 Aircross and start its career with petrol or diesel internal combustion engines. The entry price should be particularly attractive as the technical base is proven and its development is largely amortized.

It’s difficult to speculate on an electric or even hybrid version based solely on a single image, but the C3 platform allows for it. As for a future in Europe, it is very unlikely for this model as Citroën already has a model of this type in its catalog with the ë-C4. The relatively limited success of this car, which is nonetheless interesting, should motivate the brand with the chevrons to take better care of a potential successor, but it is certain that it is already in the works.
