Bentley is frankly unreasonable with the Bentayga Speed V8

Bentley pushes the limits further with the Bentayga Speed V8, a colossus that thinks it’s a GT.

Goodbye to the thunderous W12, welcome the new king of luxury SUVs from Bentley: the Bentayga Speed in V8 version. A monster with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo eight-cylinder engine, now generating 641 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. In an SUV weighing over two and a half tons, Bentley has decided to add a Sport mode, and even a launch control. And what about the contribution of hybridization, the brand’s new battleground? None. This big beast is a gas guzzler, purely thermal…

With this new configuration, the 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.4 seconds, which is half a second faster than the previous W12 version. Even better, this V8 is a second quicker than the standard Bentayga V8. The performance is there, and Bentley also wanted to make the elephant dance: 15% firmer suspensions, lighter ESC to allow controlled drifts. Yes, you can drift, even if it doesn’t swallow corners with elegance.

An SUV is not made for that, even with a Bentley badge!

This Bentayga also offers four-wheel steering and carbon-ceramic brakes as options… in case you’re tempted to take it for a spin on the track with a machine that, let’s say, wasn’t designed for that. No matter how much the numbers are inflated, this SUV will never compete with a Continental GT.

As for the sound profile, a sports exhaust is standard, with an optional Akrapovic titanium line — perfect for waking the neighbors with style. All of this is complemented by a visual array worthy of the best rap videos: 22-inch wheels (or 23 if you find that modest), colored brake calipers, glossy black inserts, darkened leather interior, and new Precision Diamond quilted upholstery. Because a pachyderm can also do refinement, a playground where we love Bentley.

The manufacturer does not announce any official pricing, but imagine something completely unreasonable and it’s likely more. So here’s an SUV that drifts, roars, burns rubber, and probably costs more than a Parisian apartment. You can’t help but wonder what kind of driver truly needs an SUV that’s bigger, faster, and more expensive than those of others?
