At a time when automobiles are learning to whisper, Aston Martin still prefers to make twelve cylinders sing very loudly: the Valen boasts 850 hp and only 150 units.
At Aston Martin, the letter V is starting to resemble an addiction. After Valkyrie, Valhalla, Valour, and Valiant, here comes the Valen, the latest creation from Q by Aston Martin. Its name derives from the Latin valens, meaning “strong” or “powerful”. For once, the marketing department hasn’t exaggerated.
Under its endless hood lies a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 pushed to 850 hp and 1,000 Nm available from 2,500 rpm. Aston Martin thus presents the Valen as the most powerful front-engine series car in the world and, of course, as the most muscular Aston in its 113 years of history.
The 0 to 60 mph – 96 km/h – takes just 3 seconds, while the top speed reaches 214 mph, which is about 344 km/h.

As 850 hp clearly wasn’t enough, engineers also targeted weight reduction. Up to 110 kg disappears compared to the usual V12 platform, thanks to carbon, aluminum, titanium, and magnesium. An optional package can even save an additional 16.9 kg with machined aluminum suspension components and titanium chassis bolts. Yes, titanium bolts: every gram counts when playing in this league.
The Valen also receives carbon-ceramic brakes, Bilstein DTX dampers, magnesium wheels, and especially a titanium exhaust with four outlets, some of which are 3D printed. Aston Martin even explains that they designed the upper outlets “like organ pipes” to amplify high revs. This is a use of classical music that Bach probably didn’t anticipate.
