Audi V6 TDI

Audi expands the Q5 range with the arrival of a new V6 TDI hybrid engine variant.

Audi announces the opening of orders for a new engine on the Q5: a 3.0-liter V6 TDI developing 220 kW (299 hp) and 580 Nm of torque. Combined with a more advanced mild-hybrid MHEV system and an electric compressor, this powertrain complements the offering of the premium family SUV. It is available in both SUV and Sportback body styles, featuring quattro all-wheel drive and a seven-speed S tronic transmission. The first deliveries are expected in October 2026.

This engine adopts a technology already present in the Audi A6. The MHEV plus system includes a belt-driven starter-generator, a powertrain generator, and a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The generator provides up to 18 kW (24 hp) and an additional 230 Nm during acceleration and overtaking phases, while allowing energy recovery of up to 25 kW during deceleration. Partially electric driving is possible in low-speed situations (urban traffic, maneuvers, or parking).

Cleaner Diesel

The electric compressor complements the turbocharger for a two-stage boost. It virtually eliminates response time and allows peak pressure to be reached nearly a second earlier. The result: a sharper response to the accelerator and torque available from low engine speeds. The Audi Q5 V6 TDI accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h, regardless of body type. The curb weight is set at 2,135 kg.

Audi also emphasizes the use of sustainable fuels. This engine is compatible with HVO 100 (EN 15940 standard), a diesel produced from organic residues that can reduce CO₂ emissions by 70 to 95% compared to fossil diesel. The combined WLTP fuel consumption is reported to be between 5.8 and 6.5 l/100 km depending on the version, with significantly reduced CO₂ emissions.
