DS Automobiles and the Monnaie de Paris celebrate the 70th anniversary of the legendary model with a limited edition collectible coin.

To mark the 70th anniversary of a true automotive icon, DS Automobiles and the Monnaie de Paris have teamed up in a unique partnership. This collaboration results in an exceptional collectible 10-euro silver coin, representing two key eras of the DS: the 19 from 1955 and the 23 from 1975.

The front of this commemorative coin is enhanced with a golden coloration that cleverly illuminates the headlight beam, creating a striking visual effect. Conversely, the original 1955 DS appears as a reflection, symbolizing both the roots and stylistic evolution of this legendary car. In addition to depictions of the models, the coin bears inscriptions “DS,” “1955,” “RF” for French Republic, and the year “2025.” Presented in a card detailing the car’s history, this piece serves as a vibrant tribute to the legacy of a revolutionary vehicle.

The DS: an automotive revolution of the 20th century

Unveiled on October 6, 1955, at the Grand Palais during the Paris Motor Show, the DS immediately garnered admiration. Conceived by designer Flaminio Bertoni and engineer André Lefèbvre, this car became iconic thanks to its avant-garde design and technological innovations, notably the hydropneumatic suspension developed by Paul Magès. With nearly 1.5 million units produced until 1975, the DS represented French excellence and even served as transportation for several Presidents of the Republic.

Limited to 5,000 copies and priced at 15 euros, this 10-euro silver coin is now available on the official Monnaie de Paris website. It marks the beginning of a collection that will grow throughout the year, allowing automobile enthusiasts and numismatists alike to celebrate the epic story of a legendary car that continues to inspire DS Automobiles today.
