BYD Dolphin Surf: the electric city car now seats 5 for just €20,690
An extra seat can change a lot of things. The BYD Dolphin Surf now accommodates five occupants and enhances its equipment. In October, its price starts at €20,690, after manufacturer discounts.
Four seats can sometimes be one too few. For a family with three children or an impromptu trip among friends, this limitation could have been enough to rule out the BYD Dolphin Surf. The Chinese manufacturer corrects this with a third rear seat, equipped with its own adjustable headrest. The trunk still boasts a reported capacity of 308 liters.

In France, this new configuration is already available for order in the Boost and Comfort trims. The former has a list price of €24,490, reduced to €20,690 in October thanks to a commercial discount known as the “Bonus BYD” of €3,800. The Comfort model, meanwhile, goes from €26,490 to €23,690, after a deduction of €2,800. The previous four-seat versions remain available until stocks are exhausted.
The City as a Playground
Both variants share a 43.2 kWh battery. With its 88 hp motor, the Boost claims a mixed range of up to 322 km. The Comfort prioritizes performance with 156 hp, but slightly reduces its range to 310 km. Both support fast charging up to 85 kW, allowing a charge from 10 to 80% in 31 minutes.

However, the evolution goes beyond the bench seat. The Boost and Comfort receive a heated steering wheel, while the Boost gains heated seats. The gear selector moves to the steering column.
The Comfort adds a 12.8-inch central screen integrating Google Built-in and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. These are valuable updates, even if the main change remains the ability to accommodate a fifth passenger.
