Sharing the spotlight with Brad Pitt requires a certain level of confidence. Mercedes-AMG clearly believes its new GT 4-Door Coupe has enough of that. The electric sports car accompanies the actor in “Too Hard to Resist,” a global campaign launched in October, with a title that says it all: “Too hard to resist.”

The scenario takes us to a movie set in Los Angeles. Everything is set, the teams are ready, but the car distracts Brad Pitt from his commitments. The desire to get behind the wheel overrides the schedule. Directed by Simon McQuoid, the film follows a tried-and-true formula: a star, a beautiful car, and the promise of an escape.

How to Make Electric Cars Loved?

For AMG, the stakes go beyond the pleasure of associating its brand with Hollywood. It must convince that the shift to electric maintains the seductive power of its sports cars. With three axial flow motors and up to 1,169 hp for the GT 63, the arguments are plentiful.

But perhaps the most interesting part lies in the pricing. At its French launch, the GT 55 with 816 hp was priced at €159,350, compared to €203,050 for the GT 63. These amounts are obviously inaccessible to the average person, but they must be viewed in the context of the offered performance.

Considerable power, all-wheel drive, air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and generous equipment: at this price point, finding a gasoline counterpart that encompasses so many features is a challenge. This is the strength of the electric sports car: offering performances that were once reserved for supercars in a four-door vehicle, at a significantly lower budget. Brad Pitt attracts the gazes; this equation deserves closer inspection.
