The F1 returns this weekend to the streets of the Azerbaijani capital with a race exceptionally scheduled for Saturday and Kimi Antonelli leading the championship.

Watch out for habits! This year, there’s no need to wait until Sunday to follow the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. To respect the commemoration day on September 27, the meeting has been moved forward by twenty-four hours. The practice sessions will be held on Thursday, qualifying on Friday, and the race on Saturday.

On the shores of the Caspian Sea, Baku celebrates ten years of presence in Formula 1. Having arrived on the calendar in 2016 under the name European Grand Prix, the event adopted its current name in 2017. Since then, this street circuit has built a reputation as a place ripe for upheavals, where the walls can penalize the slightest mistake.

Over 6.003 kilometers, the single-seaters travel from the alleys of the old town to an endless stretch at full throttle. This discrepancy requires a balance of precision, traction, and top speed. With the 2026 engines, managing energy will be a major challenge.

In terms of the championship, Antonelli arrives with 292 points, compared to 211 for George Russell and 191 for Lewis Hamilton. After winning in Monza and then in Madrid, the Italian aims for a third consecutive victory. His teammate needs to make up ground to maintain the suspense against a leader already victorious eight times this season.
