In the Oil Paradise, Ceer Unveils Its Oversized Electric Cars

With its first electric cars Exobot, the Saudi manufacturer Ceer mixes extravagant power, spectacular doors, and industrial ambitions in a country that wants to prepare for its post-oil future.

Thanks to Ceer, Saudi Arabia is getting cars from the future. On September 21, the Saudi manufacturer unveiled an electric sedan and an SUV called Exobot. With sharply cut silhouettes, imposing proportions, and giant doors that open upwards: for its debut, the Saudi manufacturer seems to have left discretion at the door. The sedan measures 5.26 meters, and its doors are nearly three meters in length!

Behind this demonstration lies a powerful alliance. Launched in 2022, Ceer combines the Saudi sovereign wealth fund PIF with Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics giant. BMW also provides licensed technologies. The goal goes far beyond marketing a few toys for billionaires: it’s about building a national automotive industry.

A solid partnership

To attract attention, the Exobot First Edition boasts 850 hp, three motors, and all-wheel drive. According to Ceer, the sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds. Inside, a 48-inch panoramic screen transforms the dashboard into a cinema. The battery reaches 112 kWh, with charging from 10 to 80% said to take less than thirty minutes. Impressive figures, which remain to be verified against independent tests.

Sales are set to begin in early 2027 in Saudi Arabia. Five more models are planned between 2028 and 2030, with a surprise: Ceer is also preparing plug-in hybrids and combustion cars. Even funded by petrodollars, all-electric is facing its commercial limits.

The real challenge remains: to transform this explosive entry into sustainable success. Producing, delivering, maintaining, and convincing against Chinese manufacturers will require more than spectacular doors. Ceer has the means to make an impression. It still needs to secure its place in garages.
