A small electric car that focuses on linen instead of a gigantic battery: this is a commendable initiative. Founded in 2021, the Spanish manufacturer LIUX will showcase its BIG at the Paris Motor Show, a two-seater measuring 2.76 meters designed for daily commuting.

But the commercial challenge seems colossal. The Fiat Topolino and Citroën Ami cost less than €10,000. They are certainly limited to 45 km/h, but already fulfill many urban missions. More formidable, a Dacia Spring available for under €12,000 with subsidies, depending on eligibility conditions, offers four seats and greater versatility.
Announced at under €18,000 before subsidies, the LIUX BIG will need to justify this difference while reassuring regarding maintenance, repairs, and the availability of parts.
Its launch is scheduled for the first half of 2027, particularly in France. To endure against the automotive giants, LIUX could find its first markets among rental companies and urban fleets. Let’s hope for its success: this sobriety deserves better than a future as a curiosity at a trade show.
